First Friday, Healthy Recipes, and Workouts
Remember tonight is First Friday in Mt Airy and we’ll have photography on display by Rich Walker. Be sure to stop in and check it out between 6pm – 9pm.
We’ll also be holding a few challenges:
Pull Up Challenge – Men and Women Divisions, as many full range of motion pull ups, meaning fully extended elbows at the bottom and chin clears the bar at the top, without dropping down from the bar, no assists, kipping is allowed.
Push Up Challenge – Men and Women Divisions, as many full range of motion push ups, meaning full elbow extension at the top of the push up, chest touches the ab mat, in 60 seconds.
Plank Challenge – One Division, hold a single plank for the longest time, in one position without moving positions, shifting weight, dropping or raising hips, or rocking back and forth.
All challenges are throughout the evening, no specific times, but must be done between 6pm and 9pm. Their will be 5 winners, one in each category, the winner will receive an Urban Athlete shirt.
Here’s your healthy recipe for the weekend: Vegetarian Chili
3 – 12oz cans Diced Petite Tomatoes
1 – 12oz can, rinsed Black Beans
1 – 12oz can rinsed Red Kidney Beans
1 – 4oz can Tomato Paste
2 cups Sliced Baby Portobella Mushrooms
1 chopped Jalopeno Pepper
1 chopped Anaheim Pepper
1 chopped Cubanella Pepper
1 package veggie crumbles, Morning Star, Quorn, or Boca (sub meat or extra beans as preferred)
Hot Hungarian Paprika to taste
Cayenne Pepper to taste
Fresh Ground Pepper to taste
Simmer in CrockPot or stovetop for 3-4 hours.

Friday’s Workout:
Complete 1 rep of each exercise, then 2, 3, 4, etc until you get to 15.

Lateral Cone Jumps
Pike Saws

For the record, Katie and I were driving today and she joked that if we were in a fatal car accident that Pamela would request to see her stomach contents (to ensure she’d adhered to the weight loss challenge diet). . . . .See you at First Friday!
